Fractures, Sprains & Dislocations

Fractures

A fracture is a partial or complete break in a bone. It may present with intense pain, swelling, deformity, or difficulty moving the affected area.

Treatment depends on the type and location of the fracture and may include:

  • Immobilization with a splint or cast
  • Closed reduction
  • Surgical internal fixation when necessary

The goal is to achieve proper alignment to ensure optimal bone healing.

Fractures, Sprains & Dislocations

Sprains

A sprain occurs when the ligaments that stabilize a joint are stretched or torn. It is common in the ankles, knees, and wrists.

Symptoms may include:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Limited range of motion

Treatment is typically conservative and may involve rest, temporary immobilization, medication, and rehabilitation.

Dislocations

A dislocation occurs when the bones of a joint are forced out of their normal position. It can cause severe pain, visible deformity, and inability to move the joint.

Immediate medical attention is essential to reposition the joint and evaluate for associated injuries.
